Simple Sharing Buttons Generator v2.5

Posted on June 22 2014

Other than a few UI tweaks, the 2.5 version update brings a possibly controversial feature: JavaScript.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, the original idea behind the Simple Sharing Buttons Generator was creating sharing buttons without relying on JavaScript – because you really don’t need it. Unless you want to add numbers of likes/shares/pins etc – or easily add the code to multiple pages.

With this update, you will be able to choose to generate very simple JavaScript code that automatically detects the URL and title of the page the sharing buttons are on. Furthermore, you will be able to provide your home page URL for a non-JavaScript fallback.

A much better solution (in my opinion) would be generating this code on your server with PHP or Python (or any other back-end language), but this may not be possible to implement on every type of hosting (for example your Tumblr blog). This is why I added the JavaScript option first and plan on adding PHP in the next update.
